Manly 120 Palette Look #9 – Trying Greens Again

Yes this is yet another Manly 120 look and I’m a bit behind so some of these were from last week, but only posted now when I had free time. Today I tried another green look since the first look I did wasn’t all that great. I love green but I find them hard to work with on me. I’m not sure what it is about me, but I find green kind of hard to suit.

I wore this look on Saturday when I made my trip down to IKEA for some little pieces to help organise my makeup better. It was a nice sunny day and I thought green was a nice colour to wear. In some way not all that satisfied with the look, but I find that green make me feel that way all the time. That’s probably why I avoid it the most.

Here is how it turned out:

Still doesn't feel right... will have to try again some other time?

Manly 120 Palette Look #8 – Purple Fever

Just want to start off by posting a reminder that my 50 followers giveaway is currently running so check it out here: http://hairandmakeupoverload.blogspot.com/2010/09/50-followers-giveaway.html

I know some of you will think how did the number jump from #5 to #8 since the last one right? Well truthfully #6 and #7 had been done, but I forgot to label them. If you’re wondering which look they are then they are the Bubblegum Ice-cream flavour inspiration and the Halloween Inspiration previously posted.

Anyway back to #8 which is what this post if for. I got caught up in the Purple Fever, as the title states, because lately I’ve seen so many purple looks that I got sucked into doing one myself. Don’t’ get me wrong but I absolutely love the colour purple, but because I’m in Australia and I’m hitting summer soon purple is hardly ever on my mind then. However I did enjoy wearing this purple combination even though the weather is starting to warm up where I am.

Here is the look…

Close up shot and realised i didn't clean it very well :( ashamed!

both eyes with falsies giving it that flick on the end
Now for the products I used:

Manly 120 eyeshadow palette

Coastal Scents Gel liner – True black

Jesse’s Girl Eyeshadow Primer (currently in testing period)

Chi Chi Lash Heroes – Cat Lashes/Demi Lashes

Majolica Majorca Jeweling Pencil BL503 (Blue)

NYX Doll Eye Mascara – Waterproof

DUO Eyelash Adhesive

Over the lids

In the crease
(I'm loving this blue a lot!)

In the outer corners

Didn't like the pencil liner that much so I set it with this blue on the lower lash line

Now more photos of the eyes!

bonus with glasses on

This is the second post of a look that I am wearing false eyelashes! I think I’m feeling more comfortable showing my eyes with falsies on them and I hope you guys enjoy it too. These ones are more natural because they’re not dramatic and are only half lashes so they only give the ends a nice flick to them to enhance the shape of your eyes. I quite like these lashes but not cheap in my opinion, so I’ll probably only stock up on them when they’re on sale.

CCs are definitely welcome and as you guys know I love hearing what you guys think.

Halloween Inspired (Doll Eyes) Look

I’ve never gotten into Halloween probably because we don’t celebrate it where I live. I’ve never been trick or treating in my entire life so I’m not sure whether I missed out any fun when I was younger. Anyway today’s look is inspired by J. at Color Me Happy (http://mkupfrk07.blogspot.com/2010/09/halloween-themed.html). Check out her wonderful blog here: http://mkupfrk07.blogspot.com/

Any way back to my actual look. It was fun and I used a pair of false eyelashes I was about to toss out since I’ve made maximum use of it. So why not one last time for a look I wasn’t intending to wear long. Yes I did this look for fun and it was fun to do too.

Full Face
Note i only have makeup on my eyes, the rest of my face is bare naked!

Quick simple look for family dinner and Bourjois EOTD

Just wanted to drop in quickly and get this post out of the way otherwise I’ll forget about it. I haven’t had time recently do a post so I’m sorry, but I’m here to share two looks.

I was going to post them separately but it’s much easier and faster this way :p

Last night I went out to dinner with the family and it was very last minute. I got home and I was alone so I showered and pulled all that makeup off to let my face refresh. I then got a call not too long after from mum saying they decided to eat out that night and was to meet them in 45 minutes. Geez… not a great deal of time to change, brush my hair and do my makeup at all. The drive was 20 minutes so that really gave me under 30 minutes to do everything and be out of the door. I also had to feed the dog before I leave so it was one hell of a challenge.

I wasn’t stepping out naked face that night either, my face was not looking great so I had to do something really quick. Beside it’s a family dinner so no need to make it look all fancy right.

Here are the products I used for this look:

Face:

The Body Shop Moisturise it skin primer

Eve Pearl Anit-shine Mattifying Gel – A Light/Medium

Revlon New Complexion Foundation – 04 Natural Beige

Coastal Scents Camo Quad – Medium

MSCHIC Powder Blush – Warm Glow (I’m so loving this colour at the moment!)

Lips:

Vaseline – this is the first thing I put on before applying my makeup, I like to keep my lips nice and moist before any lip products is applied. I do wipe it off before apply gloss or lipstick though.

NYX Round Lip Gloss – 28 Whipped

Eyes:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

NYX Eyeshadow – 155A Ultimatum

NYX Eyeshadow – 80A True Taupe

NYX Eyeshadow – 128 24 Karet

NYX Eyeshadow – 83 Skin

Chi Chi 3D Magic Lash Mascara

L-R: 24 Karet, Skin, True Taupe, Ultimatum
Ultimatum - Lids
True Taupe - Crease
24 Karet - Outer V
Skin - Brow Highlight and Tear ducts

I can’t even believe I had time to take photos, however I was 10 minutes late. Whoops!

Scary! Before any makeup application
Look at those massive dark circles :S
After makeup and hair was done as well as been changed.
What a BIG difference it makes :)
Messy hair still
Really close up of face.  I like it natural looking like this most of the time.
Dark circles are still obvious this close up
Just the eyes
I also took a photo of what I wore.  Not something I do on a regular basis since I’m quite self conscious about my weight and body shape.

Black Dress from Ally
Cardigan from Ally
Watch from Hong Kong, Mong Kok
Leggings from Target
I also realise how awkward my pose is!

The second look is just the eyes and I was in a rush (again). I decided to use some of my Bourjois eyeshadows that I had greatly neglected. Except this time round I applied them wet. Apparently that what they recommended but I’m not a big fan of applying shadows wet at all. However the pigmentation for these eyeshadows DO turn out a lot better. Nothing special for this look, just something neutral with a pop of colour.

roducts used for this EOTD

Eyes:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 16 Ambre Nude

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 54 Marron Glace

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 92 Gris Paillettes

Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres eyeshadow – 17 Prune Intense

NYX Eyeshadow – 80A True Taupe (I only used to lightly fill in some of my brows)

Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara

MAC Fixed +

L-R: Marron Glace, Gris Paillettes, Prune Intense, Ambre Nude
Marron Glace - Crease and Outer V
Ambre Nude - Lids
Gris Paillettes - Lined upper lash line
Prune Intense - Lower lash line

Some people may be thinking what I used MAC Fixed + on my eyes, well I used this solution to wet my makeup brushes to apply the eyeshadow.  I find that this solution works really well when it comes to applying eyeshadows/pigments wet.  I’m not sure why exactly but I use it normally as a finishing/setting spray so I thought that if this keep things in place then would it do the same with eyeshadows after it dries?  Who knows… it was just something I thought to myself and had been doing that since.

Autumn/Fall Inspired EOTD

Australia is going into spring so I do feel a tad odd do a look based on Autumn/fall inspired, but this look is for Turtle Beauty 160 Followers giveaway. I thought it would be fun and then I could post an extra EOTD on my blog as well.

I don’t’ have a photo of where my inspiration comes from, but when I think of fall I pick the leaves falling from the trees. The orange, brown and green colours that all mix together is a very nice combination. It somehow makes me feel kind of warm as well.

Here is how I do colour combination, I don’t think I ever mentioned it ever on my blog that I actually swatch eyeshadows onto a white card to find the right combinations I want to wear on my eyes.

My swatches while picking out the colours for this look

This look is indeed wearable and nothing outrageous or dramatic. I’m not a fan of orange I have to say and when I first applied the orange on my lids I was thinking it was going to be too bright. However in the end I think the colours worked out pretty well.

This is completely beauty/makeup unrelated but I just had to share this photo. It’s a photo of the little fluffy ball that is very important in my life. Meet Miss Coco, half Bichon Frise and Pekingese. She’s currently 9 years old and she likes to sleep/nap in the bathroom so we put a pet bed in there for her. This is a very rare sleeping photo of her since she hates the camera. She has an under bite and just recently recovered from being run over by a cyclist. I cried because I was in Hong Kong during March/April when she had that accident. I hope that cyclist feels guilty for the rest of his life after leaving my dog in a bloody mess! You should have paid for the medical fees you asshole!

Ok I’m signing out now and only 5 more followers until the first giveaway :)
